Smart City Officers Delegations from Rajasthan & Telangana Visit Pune to Study Smart City Projects

The Delegation praise the work under Pune Smart City and looks forward to implementing in their respective cities

Pune: Two delegations- one from Smart Cities of Rajasthan and the other from Hyderabad (Telangana) visited Pune on a special tour of Pune Smart City projects. PSCDCL CEO Ms. Rubal Agarwal, IAS welcomed the delegation and gave them a detailed presentation during their study visit of Smart City Projects.

The delegation included officers from four smart cities in Rajasthan namely Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, and Ajmer. Udaipur Smart City CEO- IAS Qummer Choudhary, Jaipur Smart City CEO- IAS Lok Bandhu and Commissioner of Kota Vasudev Malawat led the delegation of officers of various ranks. One delegation included 16 key officials from Rajasthan and the other had 6 delegates led by Mayor of Hyderabad Dr. Bonthu Rammohan who have been working on various development projects in their respective cities.

As part of the ‘Exposure Visit to Smart City Pune’ Program of City Managers Association Rajasthan, the delegation visited Pune to gain inputs in different areas of Smart City management with focus on IT and Transport sector. The participant officers with considerable experience of working in their respective Smart Cities were given the task of visiting Pune due to its successful and innovative projects.

The officers had an interaction during knowledge sharing sessions with PSCDCL officials of respective projects during the visit to Pune Smart City office and Smart City Operations Centre (SCOC) on Sinhagad Road, where they were shown Digital Experience Centre of PSCDCL and Smart Street Lighting project. During the daylong visit, the officer participants also made site visits to learn about the development works done and undertaken by Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd., (PSCDCL).

The officers’ team visited Pune Smart City’s projects including Lighthouse, Smart Street Redesign, Smart Placemaking sites, and Smart Command and Control Centre which was awarded by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. PSCDCL officials gave detailed presentations to the team regarding status and progress of ongoing Area Based Development projects in Aundh-Baner-Balewadi (ABB) area and Pan City projects under Smart City Mission.

Ms. Rubal Agarwal, CEO, PSCDCL was quoted saying “PSCDCL facilitates completion of various Smart City Projects by engaging with various Govt. agencies internally and externally. We are very proud to showcase few of our marquee projects that have gained national recognition and extensive support from citizen for all the projects.”

Pune holds an important place for both Maharashtra and India and has ranked second in the Smart Cities competition organized by the Government of India. Free Pune Wi-Fi, Smart Public Bicycle Sharing, Smart Placemaking, Smart Street Redesign, SCOC and Smart Elements, Lighthouse and Citizens Engagement- these are few of the successfully implemented projects of Pune Smart City. Pune Smart City is performing a pioneering role by being a mentor and trainer to other Smart Cities in the SPV to SPV Coaching Program initiated by the Govt. of India. Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh), Faridabad (Haryana), Madurai, Salem, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruppur, Vellore, Erode (all from Tamil Nadu) and Varanasi have followed suite in replication of Pune Smart City model.
