Pune Smart City signs MoU with Dell for Center of Excellence
Pune: Invest India- Smart Cities Mission Technology Showcase hosted by Pune Smart City Development Corporation in the city concluded successfully. During this one-day event various startups pitched their technologies to Smart City CEOs, who will adopt those solutions based on their needs. These startups have been working in four broad areas which have been the pressing problems faced by cities.
The four broad areas which have been identified are as follows- 1) Traffic Management, Transport and Mobility, Pollution Management, 2) Water, Sanitation and Solid Waste Management, 3) Safety, Surveillance and Security, 4) Health and Education. Invest India has worked with the Smart Cities Mission to identify the pressing problems faced by cities. Invest India has identified market-deployable technological solutions from start-ups to deliver the relevant solutions to Smart Cities.
The Mission Director of the Smart Cities Mission and the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Kunal Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Pune Smart City Dr. Rajendra Jagtap, Invest India’s Rahul Nair, CEOs of fifteen other Smart Cities, Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Manojit Bose and representatives of various organizations, officials were present on this occasion.
Pune Smart City signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dell for Center of Excellence. Four rounds of pitch sessions by Startups were organized. Signing of Letter of Intent between Smart Cities and shortlisted startups for pilot opportunity was hosted. A MoU between Smart Cities Mission and Invest India was also signed.
While addressing at the occasion Mr. Kunal Kumar, Mission Director, Smart Cities Mission, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs said, “Technology will redefine the way people live and work in India, and the Smart Cities Mission, under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will be at the forefront of this transformation. Invest India, through AGNIi and StartUp India are at the forefront of curating technologies from the entire Indian innovation ecosystem.”
Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of India, set up as a non-profit agency under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India. Two of Government of India’s flagship initiatives that are also executed by Invest India are AGNIi and StartUp India.
Pune Smart City is at the forefront of adoption of innovative technologies from startups. Pune was the host Smart City for the event.
- Bridging the gap between technology providers and technology seekers on a common platform
- Implementation of technology driven solutions for the problems identified at Smart Cities
- Tackling pressing issues like security, problems faced in transportation, lack of access to sanitation and clean air by providing accessibility to technological solutions.
