Pune Smart City Launches Pilot Smart Mechanized Street Sweeping
Pune: Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited has launched the Smart Mechanized Street Sweeping project on pilot basis by using advanced technology. The objective of this activity is to demonstrate ideal ways of cleaning streets using right equipment and then eventually increase the use pattern.
The pilot project was launched at the hands of Aundh-Baner Prabhag Samiti President Mr. Amol Balwadkar at Baner road, in the presence of Corporators from the ABB area Mr. Vijay Shewale, Ms. Jyoti Kalamkar, Ms. Swapnali Saikar, Ms. Sunita Wadekar, CEO, PSCDCL Dr. Rajendra Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner, Solid Waste Management Mr. Dnyaneshwar Molak, and Asst. Commissioner, PMC Mr. Sandip Kadam.
CEO, PSCDCL Dr. Rajendra Jagtap was quoted saying, “To arrive at a benchmark standard of cleaning we are going to collaborate with various agencies and provide best carriageway cleaning with advanced handheld tools. I am optimistic in the increase of the quality of cleaning once the staff is empowered with the use of current technologies. Through the implementation of this pilot we want to engage and provide effective and efficient way for street sweeping.”
Aundh-Baner Prabhag Samiti President Mr. Amol Balwadkar said, “The Smart Sweeping project has been inaugurated and the Smart Sweeper vehicle has been added to the service. The use of mechanization is important and helpful for the cleanliness of the city which is a step in providing a futuristic approach towards clean Pune. Aundh-Baner-Balewadi area will become totally clean with the elevation and scaling up of this project.”

• Cleaning of area underneath parked vehicles
• Pressure washing of dividers
• Pressure washing of footpath
• Pressure washing of walls adjacent to footpath
• Trimming of tree branches encroaching side walk
• Pruning of grass grown on several locations
• Pressure washing poles, bus stops to remove unauthorized posters/stickers.
STIHL is a Stuttgart based German manufacturer handheld power equipments including trimmers and blowers.
