Pune : A colourful spring season is hitting Pune early with the outburst of colours coming up in different forms and sizes on FC road and JM road.
Curiosity of the passersby was finally answered yesterday, by the official unveiling of the Smart Pune installation next to the Fergusson College gate by the hands of the young Corporator Siddharth Shirole. This was followed by the ribbon cutting at the hands of Tejasvi Satpute DCP Pune Traffic for “The tunnel of your future”. This much awaited thought-provoking immersive experience gives pedestrians an introspective, by seeing different and multiple reflections of themselves that poses a question of their real identity “Who am I?”At the night the lighting brings in another dimension by walking against the tide of the future.
For the classic art-loving connoisseurs, the epicenter of art at the Bal Gandharva Kala Dalan has seen a comeback of a collection of rare lithographs and prints of Raja Ravi Varma. Mythological characters such as Urvashi, Rambha, Madalasa & Rutudhavaj, Vishvamitra Menaka and Shakuntla along with the classic scenes from Ramayana such as Seeta Vanvas, Ahilya Uddhar and Seeta Swayamvar to name a few, have also been displayed. The exhibition also includes the most popular images of Lakshmi and Saraswati which are based on paintings made for Gaekwad of Baroda displayed in the Laxmi Vilas Palace. This exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Siddhartha Dhende, Deputy Mayor, Pune and Mr. Amol Balwadkar, Aundh-baner Prabhag Samiti President, NFAI, Pune, in the presence of Mr. Ajit Gadgil and other dignitaries, followed by live demonstration by the renowned portrait artist Mr. Suhas Bahulkar.
The photography enthusiasts were enlightened by ace photographer Rajesh Joshi through his photography workshop on framing. Pune SmART Week with its apt slogan of #ARTFORALL saw the little artists of Pune create some great art work. Chosen art works by school students from 5th to 9th standards would be showcased on a bigger platform at the Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery from 20th onwards.
From today (the 17th of February), the Bombay Art Society and Lalit Kala Akademi would be organizing “Pratibimb” – a portrait symposium that would not only showcase portraits by various revered portrait artists, but also provide a platform for artists to create live portraits.In another workshop, kids can explore their creating by learning the art of printmaking with various materials and mediums, which has been organised by P N Gadgil.
In theatre, for those who love rib-cracking comedy, Pune SmART Week is organizing one of the most popular Marathi plays of current time, “Eka Lagnachi Pudhchi Gosht”, which is sequel to the classic comedy drama “Eka Lagnachi Goshta”, starring Prashant Damle and Kavita Lad Medhekar.
