Shimla Smart City to Follow the Footsteps of Pune Smart City in Implementation of Projects, A Delegation of Shimla Officers Study the work under PSCDCL
Pune: Shimla Smart City Limited looking forward to implement Smart City projects in line with that of Pune Smart City, with the insights and knowledge sharing from PSCDCL. A 36 member delegation led by Deputy Mayor of Shimla, that included top officials of Shimla Smart City and elected councilors from Shimla, came on a special study tour of Pune Smart City projects. The team visited Pune to gain inputs from the ongoing Smart City projects, a few days after visits by top officials from Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Deputy Mayor of Shimla Mr. Rakesh Sharma lauded Pune Smart city for its outstanding achievement in becoming one of the most successful Smart Cities in India. The visit of the delegation of 36 officials was a part of their study on implementation of Smart City projects. The delegation had representation from various departments of Shimla Municipal Corporation and Shimla Smart City.
PSCDCL representatives welcomed the delegations and gave them a detailed presentation during their study visit of Smart City Projects. Top officials and councilors who have considerable experience of working at senior positions in their respective areas of interest choose to visit Pune due to its successful and innovative projects.
These delegates had an interaction with the Pune Smart City’s officers on implementation of Smart City projects. This included knowledge sharing sessions with PSCDCL officials of respective projects during the visit to Smart City Operations Centre (SCOC) on Sinhagad Road. During the visit, the delegation also made site visits to learn about projects like Smart Command and Control Centre, Smart Street Redesign, Smart Placemaking sites, and Smart Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) which was recently awarded by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Mr. Prashant Kirkek, General Manager, Shimla Smart City said, “Shimla could learn a great deal from Pune Smart City as there are 22 similar projects between both cities, for which Pune can lead the way forward for Shimla which is a late entrant in the 3rd round of Smart Cities challenge.”
Dr. Rajendra Jagtap, CEO, PSCDCL said, “We are glad to share our experience in implementation of Smart City projects with the other Smart Cities. The delegates were keen to know about Pune Smart City’s projects that have gained national recognition and extensive support from citizens of Pune.”
