Renowned writer of Chintoo Comic Strips Mr. Charuhas Pandit also paid a visit to grace the occasion. The exhibition that started yesterday until the 24th of February, showcases art work made by children on the theme of Smart Pune. This exhibition is a must-go-to event for all children and their families.
“Finally, Pune has its own much needed art festival. I am amazed at the kind of creativity and the activities this fest is carrying out. Pune has a culture of rich heritage and art, and Pune SmART Week definitely exceeds expectations of Punekars from an Art fest. Pune needs more such spaces of art and creativity”, said Sheetal Bapat. As she addressed the students of sixth and seventh standards, she said “Marks is just a ticket to go to the next standard. You definitely must study. But, don’t kill your passion for art just for the sake of good marks. Creativity, empathy towards self and others, and out-of-the-box thinking will actually take you further ahead in your career and in your life.”
Noted actor, model, painter and sculptor, Raqesh Vashisth, was awe-struck by the kind of art fest that Pune Smart City Development Corporation Ltd. (PSCDCL) has hosted through Pune SmART Week. “I am very happy to see art fest of this magnitude being celebrated for the first time in Pune. The kind of creativity, the finesse in executing it, and the intent behind it, everything is just amazing. I definitely wish to be a part of it, and I call out for people all around Pune to come and visit this unique celebration for art.”
Mrs. Madhuri Sahasrabuddhe, Corporator, PMC inspired the students to think out-of-the-box. She said, “Who makes these boxes? It’s us and the people around us create them, while we create for others, by criticizing uniqueness or something that is different and against convention. So when we say ‘think out-of-the-box’, we are actually saying that don’t let others kill your creativity. Take care of it, nurture it, and don’t criticize it.”
Later, the evening saw a playful intermingling of poetry and singing in a high-energy performance by Vaibhav Joshi, Sandeep Khare and Savani Shende Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir. Around same time, David Shulman, the expert in Indology, had a candid conversation with the audience at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Auditorium. Later, the same venue experienced the divinity in the voice of renowned Hindustani Classical Vocalist Pandit Pushkar Lele. Punekars also witnessed the creative plotting of portrait by artist Manjiri More in a live demo. NFAI showcased the all-time favorite classic film – Devdas, and Mulshi Pattern.
